The IBPS RRB PO Exam Pattern is divided into three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Interview.
1. Preliminary Examination:
The Preliminary Exam is the first stage of the selection process. It consists of two sections: Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude. Both sections contain 40 questions each, making a total of 80 questions. The exam carries a maximum of 80 marks, and candidates are given a total time duration of 45 minutes to complete it. The exam is objective in nature with multiple-choice questions. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. Candidates need to clear the sectional and overall cutoffs to qualify for the Main Exam.
2. Main Examination:
The Main Exam is more comprehensive and consists of five sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, English or Hindi Language, and Computer Knowledge. The total number of questions is 200, and the maximum marks are 200. The time duration provided is 2 hours. Similar to the preliminary exam, this is also an objective-type exam with negative marking for wrong answers. Marks obtained in this phase play a crucial role in determining the candidate’s eligibility for the next stage.
3. Interview:
Candidates who clear the Main Exam are called for the final stage, the Interview. The interview carries a total of 100 marks. To qualify, candidates need to score at least 40% marks (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The interview assesses the candidate’s personality, communication skills, and suitability for the Probationary Officer role.
Final Selection:
The final merit list is prepared based on the performance in the Main Examination (80% weightage) and the Interview (20% weightage). Candidates who perform well in both stages will be selected for the role of Probationary Officer in Regional Rural Banks.
